The Canadian Cancer Society offers up to date national cancer data with interactive visualizations and infographics that show incidence, mortality, survival and prevalence across regions and age groups. Key findings include that 2 in 5 Canadians are expected to be diagnosed with cancer in their lifetime and that approximately 1 in 4 Canadians is expected to die of the disease, with products developed alongside Statistics Canada and the Public Health Agency of Canada.
The Canadian Cancer Society sets out a people centered research strategy to 2027 that prioritizes prevention, early detection, care and championing patient leadership. The plan stresses inclusive excellence, partnerships and improvements to Canada’s cancer data while noting 1.5 million people are living with or beyond cancer and that new case rates have declined annually since 2011.
Canadian Cancer Statistics is a national surveillance publication from the Canadian Cancer Society and partners, offering detailed incidence, mortality, and survival data for more than 20 cancer types. The series includes projected estimates for 2025 and a 2024 special report that quantifies the economic impact of cancer on health systems and on people with cancer and their caregivers.
The Canadian Cancer Society projects 254,100 new cancer diagnoses and 87,900 deaths in Canada in 2026, with lung, breast, prostate and colorectal cancers comprising 47 percent of new cases. The report highlights that males are expected to have 16 percent higher incidence and 36 percent higher mortality than females, and flags rising trends for pancreatic and uterine cancers.
